The Stanford University Vitreoretinal Fellowship is a surgically intense fellowship also with excellent medical retina experience. Stanford Univerisity Retinal Fellows are primary surgeon on over 700 surgical cases (vitrectomy, scleral buckle, scleral fixated IOL, etc.) ranging from simple vitreous and macular cases to retinal detachments to severe diabetic and proliferative vitreoretinopathy tractional detachments. Medical retina exposure spans a wide range of pathologies from common AMD and diabetic retinopathy to posterior uveitis. Peter is well trained in office procedures such as pneumatic retinopexy, lasers, and intravitreal injections.
While in the Medical College of Wisconsin Ophthalmology Residency Program, Peter primarily performed over 200 phacoemulsificantion cataract surgeries, including premium IOL implantation, as well as many glaucoma, pediatric, and oculoplastic procedures.
We love to hike and bike and swim. The more we are outside, the better.

To my Dear Patients,
It is with a great sadness that I write this. I am so very sorry that I must tell you that I will no longer be providing care at Stanford.
It has always been my desire to care for you and your vision for years into the future, and so it pains me to have to write this. It has been my greatest pleasure to care for each one of you. I count many of you as not only my patients, but also my friends. I have cared for each of you to the best of my ability and I am proud of the excellent care I have given each of you.

Dr. Peter Karth, MD, MBA - As a board-certified ophthalmologist and a vitreo-retinal physician and surgeon, Dr. Karth has had excellent training in ophthalmologic and retinal disease and surgery. He underwent Retinal Fellowship training at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, where he also was on faculty as a Associate Professor at Stanford University. He has previously completed his surgically intense ophthalmology residency at Medical College of Wisconsin in 2013. Dr. Karth attended the expansive University of Illinois at Chicago where he received his MD degree while concurrently completing his MBA degree at University of Chicago Booth School of Business where he concentrated in Entrepreneurship, Management, and Finance. Dr. Karth has contributed to many popular and peer-reviewed ophthalmic publications and has given several research presentations at national and international meetings. He is interested in medical device innovation, medical informatics applications, and healthcare clinical efficiency. Dr. Karth is a devoted clinician and surgeon.
